CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

Nursery (infants - age 2)

We count it a privilege to care for nursery-aged children during worship as part of our ministry to families.  We provide a loving, healthy and safe environment where all children are nurtured in God’s love and receive individual attention and care.  We’re grateful that our nursery is very well-equipped for young children thanks to Mother’s Day Out of Westchester who are also tenants and friends at the Community Center.

"Children are a gift from the Lord." (Psalm 127:3)

River Kids (preschool & elementary school)

During the first half of our worship, preschoolers and elementary-aged children worship with their families in our service; and then just prior to the sermon, they are dismissed to classes specially designed to nurture them in their spiritual growth.

We believe that River Kids Preschool has a unique opportunity to shape a child’s first learning experience in church.  We want our preschoolers to know they are special because God made them and that He wants a relationship with them.   Nothing is more important for a young child to know than beginning to understand who God is.  To keep our learning relevant and on a preschooler’s level, we create an active, hands-on learning environment with l-o-t-s of movement to match their attention spans and social needs.

As children move into River Kids Elementary,  we strive to help them know they can trust God no matter what and how to make wise choices as they grow in their faith.  One of our goals is for children to know that the Bible is relevant for their lives NOW.  We believe the Bible should never be boring, so it’s taught in ways that are creative, easy to understand and definitely filled with tons of kid-like energy!

"My child, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart.”  (Prov. 3:1)

pouring our lives into others

“Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours.Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion for the world is to look out; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good; and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now.”

—St. Teresa of Avila
