Full-time Staff
Having been ordained with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) since 1993, Dane counts it a privilege to have served as the original church planter and now pastor of River’s Edge since its inception in 2002. His roots are in the Boston area, but he is very glad to have called Baltimore his home since 1987. His ministry experience includes nine years here in Baltimore ministering to single adults and as an assistant pastor at Chapelgate Pres. (through 1996), as well as six years as a church planter in London, Ontario, Canada (1996-2002), before returning to Baltimore to help start River’s Edge, along with his wife, Jo, and their two sons, Dan and Matt. Dane and Jo love to talk with people about their faith journeys and help them find answers to life’s most important questions. For fun, Dane enjoys reading extensively, learning magic tricks, hiking/camping and cheering for his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox.
Originally from China, Chris immigrated to Canada in 1998 and then moved to Baltimore in 2005 to be part of our full-time staff, along with his wife, Debbie, and their son, Charles. Chris’ own experiences as an immigrant and as a university professor in China give him great understanding about the unique needs of those from other countries. He and Debbie are passionate about helping newcomers feel welcomed, deepening our appreciation for God’s kingdom around the world, helping River’s Edge become an international church and sharing the love of Jesus in a way those from other countries can understand. Chris loves to travel and is an excellent cook and Chinese teacher.

Along with her administrative responsibilities, Jo counts it a privilege to have received training in communications (B.S., Miami Christian College), theology and church history (M.A. in Christian Thought, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), and lay counseling (Larry Crabb’s Institute of Biblical Counseling Seminars). Jo also teaches communications part-time at the Community College of Baltimore County and enjoys encouraging people to grow in their faith. Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, she loves to serve alongside her husband Dane in as many ways as possible and is deeply grateful for relationships with her grown sons, Dan and Matt. For fun, Jo enjoys reading (especially historical fiction), singing, gardening, the mountains, hiking and waterfalls.
